At the GIS lab, centrally located on campus in Goldstein Hall, students engage in hands-on projects analyzing and visualizing spatial information in service to the local and global community. The lab also offers training in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology. GIS staff have experience with a variety of projects, from archaeological survey maps to heritage area mapping and historical map integration. Mapping, predictive modeling and other decision-support tools help foster understanding of critical threats to biodiversity as well as the social, political and economic forces at play. They help guide solutions that meet the needs of species and ecosystems, as well as people. The College maintains a growing database of the region's natural, cultural, historical and archaeological resources. GIS Lab 410-810-7177.
